Sugar Cookie Bars Say WHAT???!!!!!……
We have an obsession with sugar cookies! Every time there is any holiday its an excuse to make them.. but sugar cookies can be a labor of love!! So when we found this recipe it became one of our new favorites! Your getting the same idea and taste but way easier! Make the cookie dough and put in your baking sheet! So easy!! You have to try!! XOXOXO
Sugar Cookie Bars
The Food Nanny
1 cup butter softened
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract
4 2/3 cups White Kamut Flour, or 5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp French gray coarse salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
8 oz. cream cheese room temperature
1/2 cup butter
4-5 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 drops red food coloring
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Add vanilla and almond. Mix until combined.
Whisk together in another bowl, flour, salt and baking soda. Add a little at a time to wet mixture, mixing until all is combined
Spray a half sheet baking pan with baking spray. Pat cookie dough mixture evenly around the pan with hands. Bake for 10-15 minutes. Cookie should be a little light brown on top but not brown around edges. Do not over-bake. Let cool. Freeze bars in freezer bags up to 2 months.
Mix all frosting ingredients with an electric or hand-held mixer until it all comes together. Spread on cooled bars. Cut into bars.
These sugar cookie bars are so easy, fast and delicious! Easier than making sugar cookies when you’re in a hurry.
Add sprinkles. Decorate for any holiday!
